Man City fans ask Guardiola to intervene in ticket pricing issue: 'Decisions made now could affect stadium atmosphere for years to come'
Manchester City fans are calling on their coach Pep Guardiola to help with the issue of rising ticket prices.
Fan groups 1894, MCFC Food Bank Support, Solid Citizens, and Trade Union Blues have written an open letter to Guardiola.
"Pep, congratulations on leading us to yet another [FA Cup] final at Wembley. Before the match against Forest, you mentioned that you understand fans are under economic pressure. We’re glad you recognize that and that you said you prefer fans to be active, not passive.
"With that in mind, we’re asking one more favor. Your friends at the club have done a lot of good. Could you ask them to do something else good? Could you speak with your good friend, the club's CEO Ferran Soriano? Next season, stadium capacity will increase by 8,000, and fans want the return of true season tickets to preserve generational support.
"The number of season ticket holders is declining. When fans can’t attend, the club can’t resell those tickets because the prices are too high. We want the same as you — a strong club, a noisy stadium atmosphere. The North Stand renovation is a chance to make that happen. But you won’t get the atmosphere you desire if the club doesn’t reflect on this.
"Of course, the most important thing is to ensure the Etihad Stadium has no empty seats. Make it easier for fans to attend games and you’ll get full attendance. That will also increase club revenue, as fans will spend more at the stadium.
"The decisions the club makes this summer could shape the stadium atmosphere for years to come. Once again, thank you, Pep, for listening to the fans," the letter reads.
