Tom Heaton in talks with Manchester United over 1 year contract extension - Daily Mail
Veteran goalkeeper Tom Heaton could extend his stay at Manchester United, with talks underway over a new 12-month contract that would keep him at Old Trafford until the summer of 2026, according to Daily Mail.
It had been widely expected that the 39-year-old would leave the club as a free agent at the end of June, with previous reports suggesting he might transition into a coaching role. However, United are now considering retaining Heaton as their third-choice keeper for another season.
The shift in plans comes as Turkish goalkeeper Altay Bayındir, currently the No.2 behind Andre Onana, is expected to seek regular first-team football elsewhere this summer. Meanwhile, there are still no firm assurances over Onana’s long-term future at the club.
Heaton, who was named on the bench for Premier League clash against Bournemouth, could now continue his playing career into his 40s.
