Xabi Alonso reportedly 'one step away' from reaching an agreement with Real Madrid

Real Madrid are preparing for life after Carlo Ancelotti, and reports suggest Xabi Alonso is now very close to taking over.
According to Matteo Moretto, "Alonso is one step away from reaching an agreement with Real Madrid." He added that the Spanish manager has already made his decision and is expected to inform Bayer Leverkusen soon.
"All that remains is for him to communicate his choice to Leverkusen," Moretto reported. Talks will then begin over the fee Madrid may need to pay to release Alonso before his contract ends.
Florentino Perez was previously reluctant to pay a release clause, but Moretto now says, "Perez has changed his mind." Alonso is likely to join next season, after the Club World Cup in the United States.
