Real Madrid want Trent Alexander-Arnold to play in the Club World Cup before joining officially on 30 June. But Liverpool are reportedly blocking the move unless they receive compensation.

"The Reds are very angry about losing one of their stars for free," said COPE. "And even though they are not playing in the tournament, the only way Arnold could take part seems to be if some money is involved."

Alexander-Arnold is set to become Real Madrid's first signing for the 2025/26 season. His contract with Liverpool ends in June, and reports in Spain say he has already chosen to join the Spanish club.

Real Madrid hope he can join earlier and play in the Club World Cup, which starts on 14 June in the United States. But since he will still be under contract with Liverpool at the start of the tournament, the club must approve his participation.
