Pedri set to play 64th match as Barca midfielder nears record workload

Barcelona's talented midfielder Pedri is poised to play his 64th match of the season against Real Madrid, a number that echoes the extreme workload he endured in the 2020-21 season.

That season led to prolonged injury struggles, but Pedri appears to have overcome those issues, showcasing his skills with six goals and seven assists in 55 appearances for Barca this season.

Toni Kroos, the former Germany international who retired last summer, praised Pedri as the key to Barcelona's success under Hansi Flick.

On his podcast, Einfach mal Luppen, Kroos emphasized Pedri's importance: "For me, a player like Pedri is more important than Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, or Lewandowski."

Having played 55 games for Barça and eight for Spain, Pedri has demonstrated remarkable durability this season.

His performances have been pivotal in Barça's success, and his upcoming match against Real Madrid will be another test of his abilities.
