Man United opt out of open-top bus parade if they win Europa League - BBC
Manchester United have opted for a modest celebration in the event they win the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur next week, with plans in place for a team barbeque at their Carrington training ground, according to BBC.
Tottenham are expected to hold a public parade should they lift the trophy at San Mames Stadium in Bilbao on May 21.
United have not held an open-top bus parade since 2013, when they celebrated their Premier League title under Sir Alex Ferguson in his final season. Players were famously left frustrated in 2008 when no such event followed their Champions League triumph over Chelsea.
Logistical challenges have ruled out any major public celebration this year. Unlike their last Europa League victory in 2017 under Jose Mourinho – which came at the end of the season – United still have a Premier League fixture remaining after the final. They are set to host Aston Villa at Old Trafford on May 25.
Immediately following that match, Ruben Amorim's squad will embark on a post-season tour of Asia, with friendly matches scheduled in Malaysia and Hong Kong. The team will return to Manchester on May 31, after which many players are expected to join their national teams for summer international duty.
