Monaco's Adi Hutter eyed as Xabi Alonso’s successor at Bayer Leverkusen - reports
Monaco’s head coach Adi Hutter is a prime candidate to replace Xabi Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen this summer, according to L’Equipe.
Leverkusen’s management is impressed by the 55-year-old Austrian’s work, guiding Monaco to a Champions League spot with a third-place finish in Ligue 1, one point behind Marseille. They believe Hutter can sustain Leverkusen’s high performance, following Alonso’s departure to Real Madrid.
No talks have started, but an offer may come soon. Hutter’s Monaco contract runs until June 2027, and neither he nor the club has commented on Leverkusen’s interest. Hutter previously coached in Germany, leading Eintracht Frankfurt (2018–2021) to a Europa League title and Borussia Monchengladbach (2021–2022).
His 65% win rate at Monaco, with 1.9 points per game, highlights his credentials. Leverkusen, third in the Bundesliga, aim to maintain their competitive edge.
