However, the first matches for Real and Atletico could be delayed if they perform well in the Club World Cup. The federation has agreed to postpone 1-2 rounds if the teams reach the semifinals or final of the tournament.
This decision was made under pressure from the players' union, which is concerned that the teams won’t have enough time to rest between matches. Earlier this season, Real's coach Carlo Ancelotti publicly stated that he would not field his team if such regulations were not followed.
