'I'm a good guy' - Amorim explains why he bought tickets for staff and families
Man United manager Ruben Amorim has shown his appreciation for the hard work of his backroom staff by buying tickets for their families to attend the Europa League final in Bilbao.
The Portuguese coach stepped in after the club informed his team that they would have to pay for their own tickets, a gesture that Amorim felt was necessary given the challenging season the club has faced.
The generous move will allow key members of staff to bring up to two friends or family members to the final against Tottenham Hotspur.
Amorim explained that the decision was driven by his desire to support his team during a difficult time.
"The situation is simple – you know we have a lot of things, people leaving, a lot of changes in the staff, and in this moment for our club, sometimes it's hard when to give, when to take and to respect the people in certain jobs," Amorim said.
"I'm a good guy and it's not going to change my life. A final is different, but you can understand this season has been really difficult – the results and the staff [losing their jobs]."
