Newcastle United reportedly show interest in Angers goalkeeper Yahia Fofana
Yahia Fofana has emerged as one of the top shot-stoppers in Ligue 1 this season, playing a key role in helping SCO Angers secure their safety in France’s top flight. Statistically, Fofana is only bettered by Stade de Reims' Yehvann Diouf in the league this campaign.
The Ivory Coast international is already attracting significant attention, with Newcastle United making an enquiry about the Angers goalkeeper two weeks ago, according to L’Equipe.
However, Fofana's potential move could face competition. While Southampton, relegated to the EFL Championship, are interested in signing the goalkeeper, Fofana is said to be keen on staying in the top flight, ruling out a move to the second division.
Additionally, Torino have been monitoring the goalkeeper since his arrival at Angers in 2022, and an unnamed top-five Ligue 1 club made an enquiry about Fofana’s availability back in January.
It is understood that Angers would consider selling Fofana for a fee between €8m-10m, which could make him an attractive option for clubs seeking a reliable goalkeeper.
