'This is the most important period of my life': Salah reflects on his time at Chelsea
Mohamed Salah has opened up about the challenges he faced during his early days in the Premier League and how they ultimately shaped him into one of Liverpool’s all-time greats.
The Egyptian forward, now a two-time Premier League champion, says his time at Chelsea - where he struggled to make an impact - proved to be the most pivotal chapter of his career.
"I still also say this is the most important period of my life, when I went to Chelsea. Because when I started to struggle there I was like, ‘OK, so now what? Are you going to be an average player or do you want to be a really good player?" Salah said.
In search of confidence and consistency, Salah left the Premier League and rebuilt himself during spells at Fiorentina and AS Roma in Serie A. That journey not only reignited his self-belief but prepared him for a record-breaking career at Liverpool.
"It was a key point for me, I started to read a lot and watching a lot of videos on YouTube to help me also change how I behave, how my mentality is and everything," Salah stated.
Since joining Liverpool in 2017, Salah has scored 244 goals in all competitions - including a club-record 183 in the Premier League.
