Flamengo's Wesley prioritises Manchester City move despite interest from other clubs – reports

Manchester City are said to be in pole position to sign Flamengo right-back Wesley, with the 21-year-old prioritising a move to the former Premier League champions despite interest from several other clubs, according to Ekrem Konur.

The Brazilian defender has emerged as one of the most promising young full-backs in South America, impressing with his performances for Flamengo over the past season. His rise has sparked a wave of interest across Europe, but Wesley is understood to favour a switch to Manchester, believing City to be the ideal destination to further his development.

City, who have already been active in the Brazilian market with the €35m signing of Palmeiras centre-back Vitor Reis, continue to target youth as part of their long-term squad planning. Wesley is seen as a player with significant upside and could be brought in to provide competition and cover on the right side of defence.

No agreement has yet been reached between Manchester City and Flamengo, but the English club’s interest is described as concrete. Flamengo are expected to demand a substantial fee, with Wesley under contract until 2027.

As negotiations continue, City remain confident of securing a deal ahead of rival European clubs, with Wesley himself seemingly convinced that a move to the Etihad Stadium would be the right step in his career.
