Barcelona to receive La Liga trophy at Montjuic clash against Villarreal
FC Barcelona will celebrate their La Liga title once again with fans during their upcoming home match against Villarreal at Montjuic. The club will receive the champion’s trophy on the pitch, presented by Rafael Louzan, president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).
This will follow the grand celebrations planned for Thursday’s city parade. Captain Ter Stegen will have the opportunity to lift another trophy after recently lifting the Copa del Rey alongside Araujo on April 26.
The presentation continues the tradition established by the federation since the late 2010s, where the league trophy is handed over either in the match where the title is secured or in the very next home game played by the champion. Previously, under Angel Maria Villar’s presidency, the trophy was awarded during the first home game of the following season.
Rafael Louzan will also attend the presentation of the Liga F trophy to Barcelona’s women’s team on the same day, ahead of their home match against Athletic Club de Bilbao. The women’s side secured their tenth league title and sixth consecutive crown last Sunday.
Last year’s trophy presentation for Real Madrid was held under exceptional circumstances at Valdebebas, departing from the usual protocol, to allow the team to celebrate their 36th league title in the capital city.
Barcelona’s upcoming ceremony at Montjuic will mark the return to tradition, as the club celebrates its latest La Liga triumph in front of their home supporters.
