Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Chelsea among clubs interested in Jonathan David on free transfer - reports
Jonathan David has confirmed he will depart Lille at the end of the season, with his contract expiring on June 30, 2025. Over the past five years, the Canadian striker has been instrumental for the club, netting 109 goals in 233 appearances and becoming Lille’s third all-time top scorer. This season alone, he has scored 25 goals and provided 12 assists across all competitions, including decisive goals in the UEFA Champions League against Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.
David's impressive form has attracted significant attention from top European clubs. According to Ekrem Konur, Barcelona, Marseille, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Juventus, Napoli, and Chelsea are all monitoring the situation, eager to secure his services as a free agent this summer. Despite interest from these clubs, David has reportedly set high financial demands, including a signing bonus of €12m and an annual salary of €10m gross.
Napoli are currently leading the negotiations, but Premier League clubs are also in contention. David has previously expressed a desire to play for Barcelona, although recent reports suggest that the Catalan club may not pursue him due to concerns over his fit within their tactical system and the substantial financial commitment required.
As the transfer window approaches, David's future remains uncertain, with several elite clubs vying for his signature. His decision will likely be influenced by both sporting and financial considerations, making him one of the most sought-after free agents of the summer.
