Jonathan Tah ready to wait as Barcelona resolve fair play issues - reports
Jonathan Tah, the 29-year-old German international centre-back, continues to be a key target for Hansi Flick as Barcelona look to strengthen their squad ahead of next season. Despite widespread reports in Germany suggesting Tah’s move to Bayern Munich was all but sealed, sources close to the player have confirmed that he has yet to make a final decision on his future, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Bayern have been pressing hard in recent days, capitalising on the fact that Tah’s contract with Bayer Leverkusen expires on June 30. However, Tah maintains a verbal agreement with Barcelona, although the deal cannot be formally completed until the club resolves its current ‘fair play’ issues.
The defender is reportedly willing to wait longer for Barcelona’s situation to clarify, knowing that Flick is his biggest supporter at the club. Yet, Tah also understands that the coach cannot guarantee his registration, as this depends on regulatory approvals beyond his control.
Tah’s representatives have not specified how long the player is prepared to wait—whether it be days or weeks—until the club can finalise the signing.
Meanwhile, despite concerns within Barcelona over the feasibility of the transfer, Flick remains committed to signing Tah, and the player himself is hesitant to commit to Bayern, who remain the strongest bidder at this stage.
