Marc-Andre ter Stegen: ‘I’ve won many titles at the club, but this one has been very special’
Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen has reflected on the recent 2-3 loss to Villarreal, a match that marked one of his first appearances back after injury. Despite some criticism over his decisions during the game, Ter Stegen remains positive about his personal progress and the team’s achievements this season.
“I already said it, these are moments when you enjoy like never before. I’ve won many titles at this club, but this one has been very special. When you play every three days, you don’t really notice,” Ter Stegen said, referring to the recent title celebrations.
About his injury and return, he added, “Sometimes circles close. Happy to be on the field and to lift a title like this, especially how we won it.”
On the team’s style and tactics, Ter Stegen shared insights from coach Hansi Flick’s approach: “It’s very bold, at first we struggled a bit with the line until we found balance. We pushed it to the extreme, I was dizzy even at home. There were doubts at the Gamper, but they have been eliminated.”
Finally, the goalkeeper praised the squad’s dynamic, saying, “We have managed the age difference very well,” referring to the mix of experienced and younger players in the locker room.
Ter Stegen is expected to continue regaining full form as Barcelona prepare for upcoming fixtures after a challenging match against Villarreal.
