Mateo Retegui surpasses Filippo Inzaghi’s Atalanta record with 25th Serie A goal
Mateo Retegui etched his name into Atalanta’s history books by scoring his 25th Serie A goal of the 2024/25 season in a 3-2 away win over former club Genoa on May 17, 2025, per OptaPaolo.
The 26-year-old Italian striker’s 89th-minute strike secured victory and broke Filippo Inzaghi’s Atalanta record of 24 goals in 33 matches from the 1996/97 season.
Inzaghi’s sole campaign with Atalanta led to a €10.3 million move to Juventus, while Retegui, signed from Genoa for €21 million in summer 2024, has become Serie A’s top scorer.
