Pau Cubarsi: 'Lamine has so much more to show — imagine what's coming'
Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsi has spoken about the team’s mindset following their La Liga title win.
“On the pitch, it’s not as tough as it is off it. That’s the coach’s philosophy. It’s worked spectacularly for us, and we hope next year goes just as well or even better,” Cubarsi said.
He praised his teammates, adding, “Inigo is an excellent player. Ronald, Andres, and Eric have also done a spectacular job. It’s been a great defensive year, and we should all be happy.”
Cubarsi also highlighted the potential of young talent Lamine Yamal: “I’ve shared the locker room with Lamine for many years. He has a lot more to show. Imagine what’s coming. He needs to be like a kid in school, up there. I hope he can give us lots of joy. If he enjoys himself, we all enjoy it.”
On the team’s approach to pressure, he said, “There always has to be calm on the pitch, but off it, if it’s time to celebrate, we celebrate in the best way.”
The defender also reflected on his own journey: “I’m very calm. I’ve always been a calm guy. Xavi gave me the opportunity. I gave everything to show I was ready. I have a family and friends environment that keeps me grounded. I try to give my all in training and in matches.”
Looking ahead, Cubarsi concluded, “Now it’s time to rest, and next year with recharged energy, give everything and improve on this season, which will be tough.”
