Ranieri coaches his 500th Serie A match — nearly 35 years since his first
Claudio Ranieri is managing his 500th match in Serie A.
Under the guidance of the 73-year-old Italian, Roma are hosting Milan (1–0, first half) in Matchday 37.
It has been 34 years and 251 days since Ranieri’s managerial debut in Serie A — the longest span between a first and 500th match among all coaches.
Ranieri is also one of only two managers, alongside Nils Liedholm, to have coached Roma in three different decades in Serie A.
In Italy, Ranieri has also managed clubs such as Napoli, Fiorentina, Juventus, and Inter, though he never won the league title.
Internationally, Ranieri has coached in Spain (Valencia, Atletico), England (Chelsea, Leicester, Fulham, Watford), and France (Monaco, Nantes). In 2014, he also took charge of the Greek national team.
