Alvaro Carreras is serious about joining Real Madrid this summer, reports Fabrizio Romano.
Romano says Carreras will tell Benfica of his intention to sign for Real Madrid after their Cup final at the weekend.
Real Madrid have almost reached an agreement on personal terms with Carreras but are yet to start negotiations with Benfica out of respect for the Portuguese club, still fighting for a title.
Real Madrid are prepared to trigger Carreras's €50m release clause just as they did with Dean Huijsen.
Signing Carreras will secure Real Madrid's fullback positions, as Carreras is considered a high-quality left-back.
