Real Madrid tried to terminate the contract of David Alaba during the January transfer window, reports Cadena SER.

Los Blancos offered to pay off Alaba to allow them to sign someone like Kyle Walker or Trent Alexander-Arnold.

However, Alaba turned down the offer to leave, choosing rather to sit back and see out his contract.

Carlo Ancelotti pleaded with Real Madrid to improve his squad, which was depleted due to injuries.

Sadly, the club hardly moved a muscle, and Real Madrid paid dearly for it, finishing the season trophyless.
