Man City reportedly pull out of Florian Wirtz race, Bayern and Liverpool favourites
Manchester City have pulled out of the race to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen, as per The Times.
This leaves Liverpool and Bayern Munich to battle it out for the 2023/24 Bundesliga-winning attacking midfielder's signature.
"The 22-year-old is one of Europe’s most sought-after talents and Bayer Leverkusen value him at €150 million (about £126 million) should he leave this summer.
"Bayern have been considered as favourites to sign Wirtz, an attacking midfielder who can play as a forward or a false nine, and there are suggestions he could visit the Bundesliga club this week as the battle for his signature intensifies.
"City pulled out of the race to sign Wirtz after claiming that the total financial package, including wages and transfer fees, would amount to about £250 million."
