Rudiger out of Germany's upcoming squad, aims for Club World Cup return

Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger won't be joining Germany's squad for their upcoming Nations League semi-final match against Portugal on June 4.

Rudiger is currently battling a knee injury that requires a six-to-eight-week recovery period, making his participation in the tournament highly unlikely.

The German defender underwent successful surgery to repair a partial tear in the external meniscus of his left knee after Real Madrid's Copa del Rey final loss to Barcelona.

Despite the setback, Rudiger is determined to make a comeback in time for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, which kicks off on June 14.

However, Rudiger's road to recovery won't be without additional challenges.

The defender received a six-match suspension after throwing an ice pack at the referee in the Copa del Rey final, further complicating his situation.

Rudiger's absence will be felt by Germany as they face tough competition in the Nations League.

With his experience and skill, he'd be a valuable asset to the team. Nevertheless, the German squad will need to rally without him and secure wins against Portugal and potentially other teams in the tournament.
