Chelsea's pursuit of Dean Huijsen was opportunistic, not strategic priority - The Athletic
4
Chelsea’s interest in Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen emerged as an opportunistic move rather than a strategic priority, especially with 19-year-old Mamadou Sarr joining from Strasbourg this summer, according to The Athletic
However, Huijsen’s exceptional potential and an appealing buyout clause made him too difficult to overlook. The Blues were particularly impressed by his versatility - capable of playing on either side in central defence or as the central figure in a back three.
But Real Madrid's late intervention changed the course of events. Los Blancos moved swiftly to secure the talented 19-year-old, and Huijsen has now officially joined the Spanish giants, ending Chelsea’s hopes of a deal.
