Jonathan Tah to join Bayern Munich - Fabrizio Romano
Fabrizio Romano’s recent update confirms that Jonathan Tah is set to join Bayern Munich from Bayer Leverkusen. The 29-year-old German international has agreed personal terms with Bayern, and Leverkusen has been informed of the impending transfer. The final step is for Bayern to contact Leverkusen to discuss the transfer fee, with the aim of including Tah in their squad for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.
Earlier this year, Tah reportedly had a verbal agreement with Barcelona. However, due to the Spanish club’s difficulties in registering new players amid financial and regulatory constraints, the deal failed to be finalised.
Bayern Munich are actively working on summer transfers ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup, and with central defenders Eric Dier leaving for AS Monaco and Kim Min-jae expected to exit, the club views Tah as a key defensive reinforcement. The club had missed signing Tah during last year’s transfer window due to valuation disagreements, but now Bayern are leading the race to secure his signature.
The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, set to take place in the United States from June 15 to July 13, will feature 32 teams, including Bayern Munich. The tournament will be held across 12 stadiums nationwide, culminating in a final at MetLife Stadium in New York. A significant prize of nearly $100m awaits the champion, making it a prestigious event for clubs worldwide.
Given the tight timeline, Bayern Munich are eager to complete Tah’s transfer swiftly, allowing him to integrate into the team ahead of the tournament.
