Bayern Munich meet Kaoru Mitoma’s agents as €50m transfer looms - reports
Bayern Munich are intensifying their pursuit of Brighton & Hove Albion winger Kaoru Mitoma, with sporting directors Max Eberl and Christoph Freund having already met personally with the Japanese international's agents, according to Florian Plettenberg. Mitoma has reportedly indicated his openness to a move, and Bayern have been informed that a transfer could be feasible for approximately €50m.
The 28-year-old has been a standout performer for Brighton, featuring in 40 matches this season and scoring 11 goals. His consistent performances have attracted interest from several top European clubs. However, Brighton have demonstrated their intent to retain Mitoma, rejecting a €65m bid from Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr earlier this year, as reported by BBC Sport.
Despite Brighton's stance, Mitoma's representatives are reportedly open to negotiations with Bayern Munich. The Bundesliga champions are considering him as a potential replacement for either Kingsley Coman or Leroy Sane, both of whom have been linked with moves away from the club.
No official offer has been made yet, and Bayern Munich are also in contact with Jorge Mendes regarding a potential move for AC Milan's Rafael Leao. The club's interest in Mitoma underscores their commitment to strengthening their attacking options ahead of the new season.
