Celta Vigo return to Europe as Rayo Vallecano clinch Conference League spot on final day

In the final round of the 2024–25 La Liga season, Celta Vigo and Rayo Vallecano secured European football for the upcoming campaign, clinching spots in the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Conference League, respectively.

Celta Vigo achieved a significant milestone by returning to European competition after several seasons. They secured a 2–1 victory over Getafe at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez, with goals from Borja Iglesias and captain Iago Aspas. This win propelled them to 55 points, finishing seventh in the league standings, just ahead of Real Betis.

Rayo Vallecano marked a historic achievement by qualifying for European competition for only the second time in their history. They secured a 0–0 draw against Mallorca at the Estadio de Vallecas, bringing their total to 52 points. This result, combined with Osasuna's 1–1 draw against Alaves, ensured Rayo's eighth-place finish and a spot in the UEFA Conference League.

The final standings saw Celta Vigo and Rayo Vallecano join Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Athletic Bilbao, and Villarreal in European competitions for the 2025–26 season. Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Athletic Bilbao, and Villarreal qualified for the UEFA Champions League, while Celta Vigo and Real Betis secured spots in the UEFA Europa League. Rayo Vallecano's qualification for the UEFA Conference League rounds out Spain's European representatives.
