Kylian Mbappe has taken the lead in the 2024–25 European Golden Boot race after scoring his 30th La Liga goal during Real Madrid's final league match against Real Sociedad. This goal elevates his Golden Boot points total to 60, surpassing Sporting CP's Viktor Gyokeres, who concluded his season with 39 goals and 58.5 points.
The European Golden Boot is awarded based on a points system that factors in the difficulty of the league: goals scored in Europe's top five leagues are multiplied by 2, while those in leagues ranked sixth to 22nd, like Portugal's Primeira Liga, are multiplied by 1.5.
With his 30th goal, Mbappe now holds the top spot in the standings. Mohamed Salah remains a contender with 28 goals (56 points) and has one match remaining with Liverpool.
