A page in Blaugrana history: Luis Suarez's arrival
- The Uruguay striker was presented at the Camp Nou on this day four years ago
- Since then, he has made 200 appearances as a Blaugrana and won 12 trophies
Luis Suarez joined Barcelona from Liverpool in the summer of 2014. His transfer fee has never officially been disclosed, however, according to Football Leaks, the exact figures could be in the region of €82m (£65m) which makes the forward one of the most expensive players in the world.
On 19 August 2014, Luis Suarez was officially presented at the Camp Nou stadium. The striker arrived right after his notorious 'biting incident' which occurred at the World Cup in Brazil and also involved Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini. The Uruguayan was therefore banned from ALL football activity for four months: he was prohibited from training or even attending football matches.
Suarez's first match after the suspension arrived right in time for the Clasico. Even though he scored his debut Blaugrana goal, the Catalans eventually lost 3-1. Nevertheless, the Uruguay international has a bright future ahead of him. He won 12 trophies in these four years, scoring 152 goals.
Luis Suarez has already set up several records at Barca. In the 2015/2016 season, he became the first player other than Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo to win both the Pichichi and the European Golden Shoe (with 40 LaLiga goals). A year earlier, meanwhile, Suarez was part of the sensational attacking trio with Messi and Neymar who scored total 122 goals, the most in the history of the Spanish football.
