Sources from Italy: Modric 'determined' to join Inter in January
- The Nerazzurri were ready to splash the cash on the midfielder this summer
- Modric has allegedly told his Croatian teammates who play for Inter that he intends to join them in January
According to the Italian outlet Sport Mediaset, Luka Modric has told his Croatian teammates that he intends to join the Milan-based club in January.
His fellow countrymen Sime Vrsaljko, Ivan Perisic and Marcelo Brozovic all play for Inter and this is allegedly a key factor in Modric’s determination to join the club.
Inter Milan were linked with a sensational Luka Modric transfer since early August. They were rumoured to offer the Croatian a sensational 10 million euros per YEAR salary while other reports suggested they would rather sign him on loan in order to comply with the Financial Fair Play rules.
The situation hasn't changed even after the closure of the transfer window. Just last week Italian sports news outlet Corriere dello Sport claimed Inter are ready to return for Modric already in January. They hope to persuade Madrid president Florentino Perez to let his star midfielder leave.Madrid, meanwhile, are furious with Inter's pursuit as they believe the Nerazzurri approached their player behind their backs which is prohibited. They have already sent a complaint to FIFA which was allegedly declined. Previously both Florentino Perez and La Liga president Javier Tebas accused Inter of lacking enough money to fund this bold transfer. In any case, Luka Modric remains calm. Despite various claims, he seems to be happy at Real Madrid and unwilling to leave. A couple of weeks ago he even labelled all these Inter rumours as 'the biggest nonsense in history' in a comment on Instagram.Do you think the transfer is still on cards for Modric?
