Valencia allegedly eyeing move for Cesc Fabregas
- Spanish outlet El Gol Digital claim that Cesc Fabregas is now a prime target for Valencia
- However, AC Milan are still believed to be the top dog in the race
- Fabregas free to discuss preliminary terms with other clubs in January
Spanish media El Gol Digital claim that Valencia are now in the race for Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas. However, the outlet is not a very reputable one, and the Spaniard's AC Milan move is still regarded as the most likely one.
Italian media Corriere dello Sport reported last week that Milan will meet Chelsea to negotiate a deal for Cesc Fabregas ‘in the next few days’.
According to the source, the upcoming meeting will be the culmination of several previous phone conversations between the two clubs. The newspaper claim Fabregas is Milan's "No. 1 objective in January, while the midfielder is ready to reinvent himself in Serie A."
Fabregas has an expiring contract at Stamford Bridge (due to end in 2019), and the advent of Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic has put him in a precarious position. Beginning from January the Spaniard is free to secure a preliminary deal with any other club.
The Spaniard admitted there was no contract offer as of yet from Chelsea, but he is hopeful he will be able to stay. He said, as cited by The Guardian: "To be honest the club has not said anything. At the end of the day I have eight months left and at the moment I’m gone."
The Turkish side Galatasaray are also reportedly interested in the playmaker, as they hope to sign Cesc Fabregas on a free transfer in the summer. Atletico Madrid are another suitor for the Spaniard.
