talkSPORT: Chelsea step up efforts to sign Elseid Hysaj in January
- The Albanian spent three years under Maurizio Sarri at Napoli
- The 24-year-old player's contract expires in 2021
- And Chelsea are looking to sign the full-back in January
According to talkSPORT, Chelsea are stepping up their efforts to sign Napoli full-back Elseid Hysaj with the transfer window reopening in less than a month.
The Blues are looking to secure the Albanian's signature and loan him back to the Serie A side until next summer.
One of the reasons for the possibility of the right-back moving to Stamford Bridge is Napoli's annoyance with the player's demands for a salary increase. According to Total Sportek, the player earns around €60,000 per month.
Hysaj was reportedly one of the priorities for Sarri last summer. The two had worked together at Empoli and then the Italian tactician took the Albanian to Napoli. The Blues could also use Davide Zappacosta to land the right-back at Stamford Bridge.
Really hope Hysaj joins in January and Zappacosta leaves.— Rara Avis™ (@Tzar_Marc) December 4, 2018
Since the start of the season, the right-back has taken part in every Serie A match. Moreover, he even managed to provide the teammates with an assist. As the Alabian has started in 13 out of 15 games under Carlo Ancelotti, he's definitely one of Napoli's key players. Speaking of the defender's estimated market value as per Transfermarkt, it's £22,5 million.
