Sport: Barcelona hope to resolve Todibo's situation until the end of January
- Barca are trying to bring Todibo in already this month or at least send the defender on loan until the end of the season
- Todibo is being ostracized in Toulouse and has been made to train with the U19 team
- Talks with the Fenhcside are likely to drag on until the end of January
On Tuesday, Barcelona officially announced the signing of a 19-year-old French centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo. The young defender will join Barca at the end of the season, on July 1st. The Catalans managed to sign the player on a free transfer as his contract with his current club Toulouse expires in June.
This is the official information. However, Barca continue their work over the move as they are trying to bring the defender already in January or, at least, send the youngster on a six-month loan, Diario Sport report. The reason for that is Toulouse's incredibly harsh stance on Todibo.
As a 'punishment' for leaving the club, the French side made the talented centre-back train with the U19-squad. In fact, Todibo is in danger of spending the rest of the season without playing competitive football.
Neither Barca nor the player and his representatives can't be satisfied with such a development. Nevertheless, negotiations with Toulouse are expected to drag on until the end of January. We have to wait and see if Todibo is able to escape this unfortunate situation.
Toulouse president Olivier Sadran has recently accused Barca of acting with arrogance and also claimed the 19-year-old defender has been badly advised.
“They haven’t behaved like a big club. And also, it’s extraordinary: they declare the player will be with them in July, but I don’t know anyone who knows what will happen in six months," said Sardan to L’Equipe as per ESPN.
”Life can spring surprises on you, even the most uncomfortable ones. It shows their arrogance, it’s to insult life to say what we will do. From a big club, it’s not very gracious, even if -- legally -- they had the right to do it. We also have some of the responsibility.”
Todibo: "I am very pleased to have signed with FC Barcelona. It's more than a club and I thank them for their trust. It will be a new stage in my young career and I will put in all the efforts and determination to achieve great things."— Barça Universal (@BarcaUniversal) January 8, 2019

“From my point of view, the player has been badly advised in the sense he has 10 ten Ligue 1 matches under his belt. Barca also haven’t lived up to what they should be.”
