Bartomeu unveils the details of Alba's new deal
- Barca president claims that the player will 'of course' continue his career at the Camp Nou.
- Bartomeu expects that Alba will renew his contract for five more years.
"Of course he will continue at Barcelona," Bartomeu told Diario Sport when asked about the Blaugrana left-back. "We are already working with him for a long renewal for the next five years."
"In addition, we are motivated to have a great season with the team, with objectives like those marked out by the players in the squad. Jordi Alba's said that we have to go for the Treble, so we have to work in that line to have the best players possible," the president added.
Earlier on Tuesday, Jordi Alba himself has confirmed that his only desire is to stay at Barcelona. "I want to retire at Barca, I'm at the best club," he said to the press at the Catalan Sportsmen of the Year award ceremony in Barcelona. The full-back has been named the Catalan best male athlete of 2018.
Alba plays for Barcelona since the 2012/2013 season and managed the total of 271 games. Moreover, he has developed a unique connection with Lionel Messi as he has assisted the Argentine 18 times. In total, he has contributed to more than sixty goals with 47 assists and 14 goals.
The defender's current deal expires in 2020 and there have been several delays in the negotiations between the club and Alba's representatives which have attracted the attention of such clubs like Juventus and Manchester City.
