'1.5m people were on the streets waiting for us': Pablo Mari recalls his emotions on winning Copa Libertadores with Flamengo in 2019

"It was like a party every game, just amazing," Pablo Mari told Sky Sports News.

"I was so happy to play there for six months. As a football player (in Brazil) you feel everybody loves you like crazy.

"We arrived back in Rio after the Libertadores and 1.5m people were on the streets waiting for us. It was crazy. Until this moment I had never won anything so it was a special six months."

Pablo Mari became the first-ever Spaniard to lift Copa Libertadores. The 26-year-old played the full 90 minutes in the breathtaking final of the competition.

Flamengo came from behind to beat Argentinian side River Plate 2-1, courtesy of 2 late-minute goals from Gabriel Barbosa.
