Arsenal reportedly priced out of Unai Nunez move

According to Diario AS (h/t Sport Witness), a Catalan-based source, Arsenal are no longer in the race for Athletic Bilbao centre-half Unai Nunez.

The Gunners are not capable of paying his €30m release clause while the Basque club do not want to negotiate a lower fee.

The rumours linking the 23-year-old with a move to the Emirates appeared in autumn last year and have recently intensified with the Daily Mail reporting earlier in April that he is somewhere close to the top of Mikel Arteta's wishlist.

Apparently, Arsenal are so short on cash that we can't get a proven defender in his prime.

Recently, we covered France Football's report on Dayot Upamecano. The respected news outlet stated that the Gunners are no longer favourites to land the 21-year-old because richer clubs like Man United and Chelsea have joined the race.

Apart from that, The Athletic claim that Mikel Arteta is more eager to buy Pablo Mari than spend £13m on Axel Disasi.

While we do not doubt that the ex-Flamengo man is a quality defender, it's sad to see Arsenal failing to land their targets in the transfer market.

Has it ever been different, though?
