Nicklas Bendtner insists he was 'in control' of situation despite blowing £5.4m on Poker

Nicklas Bendtner has confessed he lost a large chunk of his wages when he was a youngster at Arsenal playing Poker.

“I lost a lot of money, an unrealistic amount," the Dane said on his Danish reality television show as quoted by the Daily Mail.

“It's hard to say how much it was in reality, but I'd estimate that it was almost 50 million Korona (around £5.4m). It was something that I was always in control of and I simply betted big sums of money.

"Sometimes in London, things would get out of control on a night and things could really have ended badly. Now I place smaller bets of 100 Korona (around £12)."

Bendtner represented Arsenal between 2005 and 2014. The Dane failed to live up to expectations despite having a huge talent.

The 32-year-old's last club has been FC Copenhagen. He had a short-term contract with the Danish side that expired in December 2019.

At the moment, the striker is a free agent.
