'They have big futures': Xhaka lavishes praise on Arsenal youngsters as he assesses So'ton win

Granit Xhaka has shared his thoughts on the game against Southampton and the state of affairs at the Emirates.

"I think we have some very good youngsters and they have big futures," the midfielder told the Evening Standard. "They are already helping us and they keep working hard as well.

"Of course, we had to win yesterday [to keep our hopes of qualifying for Europe alive].

"We didn’t play well last week [at Manchester City] and then we were a little bit unlucky [at Brighton], but yesterday we played very, very compact we were aggressive in a lot of the duals and we deserved the three points.

"I think we worked very hard, we had a game plan and Mikel did very good preparation for us.

"But sometimes you need luck, sometimes it is not your day but yesterday we started again with another three points and we want to keep going.

"We are happy to take the first three points since the lockdown and we hope to continue like this.”

The strikes from young players Eddie Nketiah and Joe Willock sealed the victory for the Gunners; whizkid Bukayo Saka was among the players who impressed us the most, too.

Meanwhile, Granit himself put in a great performance after returning from an injury, with Mikel Arteta hailing the former captain after the game.

"He's a big presence. He's someone who doesn't hide. He has very clear principles and values, and he puts that on the pitch every time he's there," said the boss.

While some players, young and old, have significantly improved under Arteta's guidance, the boss has come under fire from supporters for benching Gabriel Martinelli and Mesut Ozil.

Apart from the aforementioned names, Arsenal have several other talents who could shine for the first team soon, including VfL Bochum loanee Jordi Osei-Tutu who set the 2. Bundesliga on fire.

Joe Willock found the net on Thursday but has been quite average this season. What Arsenal should do with the midfielder? Tell us in the comments or share your opinion through blogs!
