- The centre-back has been on the outskirts of the main side on several occasions this season.
- However, he wouldn't get regular playing time at the Emirates next season.
- Medley is rated highly by youth coaches though, so a move to a lower-league club to gain experience makes sense.
The 20-year-old has made 3 first-team appearances: in November 2018, against Vorskla Poltava on the road as a sub [a 3-0 win], then a month later against FK Qarabag at home [a 1-0 win] and also in 3-0 win over Blackpool in the FA Cup in January 2019.
However, Medley is highly-regarded by Arsenal's youth coaches and a loan move to gain experience is a wise decision for further development.
This is probably a good move for all parties concerned, given Arsenal's current abundance of centre-backs and links to Gabriel Magalhaes from Lille - whose potential arrival would spell even fewer first-team chances for Medley.
