Atletico pull out of Partey talks, Arsenal could still sign midfielder (Reliability: 5 stars)

Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Arsenal-Atletico transfer saga that involves Thomas Partey and Lucas Torreira. The Italian journalist says the La Liga side are convinced he will eventually stay in Spain.

Moreover, Atletico are only ready to discuss a loan move, while the Gunners prefer to offload the defensive midfielder permanently. It means there will be no kind of a swap plus cash deal between the clubs.

Arsenal will have to activate a £45m release clause to exclude the Spanish side from negotiatons and eventually land the desired target. We all know that in order make it happen, Arsenal will have to raise money through sales.

Torreira's move could bring us upwards of £20m.

Uruguayan journalist Matteo Pedrosi says Arsenal are now working on selling the 24-year-old to Torino. The Gunners are ready to agree on a loan move but an obligation to buy has to be inserted in the deal.

But he's added that along with that the Serie A side will have to increase their reported initial bid of £21.7m with £7m of which is paid upfront and the rest paid in a year.

It's believed the club's asking price for the Uruguayan stands at around £27m.
