Guendouzi: 'I’m the type of player who always wants to win'

"I’m the type of player who always wants to win," Matteo Guendouzi told Hertha's official website when asked to describe himself as a player to the supporters of his new club.

"That’s the most important thing for me; coming away from the game with the win and the three points. I’ll give everything in order to achieve that and I think that that’s what characterises me best as a player - a winner."

Guendouzi joined Hertha Berlin on a season-long loan following a row with Mikel Arteta and the subsequent exclusion from the squad.

The Frenchman has not made a single appearance for the Gunners after the infamous Neal Maupay incident, when he grabbed the Brighton forward's neck after the final whistle.

It is interesting that Guendouzi has been exiled from the team despite his determination and will to succeed. This is the quality Mikel Arteta admittedly wants to instill at Arsenal, and dropping one of the team's most resolute players therefore looks odd.

Why do you think Arteta dropped Guendouzi?
