'I haven't seen him train like he's done in the last five or six weeks': Mikel Arteta opens up on Joe Willock's chances to start against Leeds

During the pre-Leeds press conference, Mikel Arteta was asked about Joe Willock's chances to start on Sunday.

"I mentioned with Joe that I've been really impressed with him, the way he's handled the situation of not having much game time in the Premier League," the boss replied as quoted by Arsenal's website.

"I haven't seen him train like he's done in the last five or six weeks under difficult circumstances.

"I think the reflection of that is the way he's playing in the Europa League when he's had the minutes, or the Carabao Cup in this case. He has a chance like everybody else to play on Sunday."

Even though Willock is yet to make his first appearance in the Premier League this season, the 20-year-old put in spectacular displays in the Europa League against Dundalk and Molde.

Thomas Partey's injury along with Mo Elneny's Covid-19 positive test raises Joe's chances to make the matchday squad against Leeds significantly.
