Pellegrino Matarazzo is happy with the Arsenal loanee—but the way he has expressed his admiration for the centre-back is quite... peculiar.

"He's our gladiator!" Stuttgart head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo said of Dinos Mavropanos, as cited by journalist Chris Wheatley. "He's a monster in terms of physique.

"And when he makes a mistake, he hums around some Greek swear words. I like that. He's just a tough dog."

Mavropanos, under contract with Arsenal until 2023, is currently on loan at Stuttgart. He has made three Bundesliga appearances so far this season, having missed the beginning of the campaign through injury.

Dinos is somewhat forgotten as the Gunners have a bloated squad and we have too many defenders. But we are expecting the club to get rid of the likes of Sokratis, Mustafi and David Luiz in June, so perhaps that will open a path into the first team for him—if he is indeed as good as the Stuttgart boss tells he is.

And Mavropanos turns 23 today, December 11. Happy birthday, Dinos—here's to seeing him turn the Emirates into a living hell for opposition strikers when he returns to Arsenal next season.
