'He is very military in style in terms of timings': Rob Holding explains how his father helped him form discipline habits

The 25-year-old is often referred to as one of the players with an exemplary attitude. It turns out that his father Stuart, who has a military background, taught his son to be disciplined.

“My dad loves rules,” Rob Holding told the Telegraph. “He is very military in style in terms of timings. “If I am a minute late, he is fuming. So I am never late for anything.

“When I was younger we would drive to Bolton after I finished school, and we would get there an hour and a half early. That was my dad and it has rubbed off on me."
