Luiz or Holding? Laca or Gabi? Pick Arsenal's Team of the Season from 2 options!

We know it was an extremely poor campaign for Arsenal but some players deserved a lot of praise despite the Gunners' low league standing.

Arteta's side failed to lift a trophy this season, and their late surge in the Premier League was not enough to get them to Europe for the next campaign.

So it's time to pick Arsenal's Ultimate XI for the 2020–21 season. Below are two options, pick the one you like most.

Leno, Tierney, Xhaka, Smith Rowe and Saka feature in both lineups because they either carried the team on their backs or their competitors didn't play enough games to warrant inclusion into the Team of the Season.

Option 1

  • Gabriel and Luiz developed a good understanding and looked incredibly solid when played together.
  • Chambers burst to the scene in 2021 benching both Bellerin and Soares with confident performances.
  • Partey was injured for a part of the season but when he was fit, he showed he is a world-class player.
  • Nico Pepe finally started showing what he's capable of and finished the season as Arsenal's second-best goalscorer, only one strike behind Lacazette, who also deserves to be in the Team of the Season.

Option 2

  • Chambers was good but Cedric was also impressive, both at right and left-back, and only Arteta knows why he didn't play more.
  • Rob Holding had a good season, earning a new contract despite being tipped to leave Arsenal last summer.
  • And Pablo Mari overcame his injury struggles, showing that landing him was a coup with several flawless displays.
  • Mo Elneny may not be the most talented player but he always left his heart and soul on the pitch for Arsenal, and was always available—and therefore deserves a spot in the team.
  • Martin Odegaard's loan improved Arsenal's attacking output as the young Norwegian added creativity and unexpectedness to Arsenal.
  • Martinelli missed half of the campaign but kept opposition defenders on their toes whenever called upon.
