3 lineups Arsenal could have next season based on most plausible transfer rumours

Arsenal are in for a busy summer, no doubt about that. The decks need cleaning and fresh blood is required in several key positions.

We've decided to take a look at some of the most likely scenarios. Which players will Arsenal end up with once the transfer window shuts? Read on our take below.

Scenario 1: no incomings... almost

Wouldn't it be the most Arsenal thing ever? Have a squad in need of strengthening and not do it.

However, we'll be genuinely short on numbers because many Gunners are on the sales list, so we think some will be retained. We are thinking about Granit Xhaka, Mohamed Elneny, Hector Bellerin and Alex Lacazette. We can also see Niles and Willock returning from their loans - but hardly a future for Guendouzi, Torreira, Kolasinac and Nketiah regardless.

Oh, Mat Ryan would still join though. We simply can't ignore having no backup keeper.

Scenario 2: attainable targets are bought

The sums quoted for some players are extortionate - we have Odegaard and Tapsoba in mind first and foremost. But going on a cheap to get someone like Bertrand (free, actually), Edouard (to replace Lacazette) and Buendia (well, he's cheaper than Odegaard at least) is not that impossible.

We can see Xhaka staying, Elneny and Bellerin doing likewise. It's curtains for AMN, Nketiah and Lacazette though - and most likely a benching for Pepe. A younger version of Lacazette is preferred to the underperforming Aubameyang.

Scenario 3: Arsenal land their top targets

We can dream, right? We still don't see Tapsoba and Odegaard happening, by the way, most likely Saliba will be given a chance, while Buendia becomes the cheap Odegaard.

However, in this dreamland Bissouma joins, Aarons/Lamptey do likewise. Xhaka and Bellerin leave, Elneny and Willock are retained as backup, Saliba slots into the XI. End of the road for Guendouzi, Torreira and Niles, unfortunately.
