Granit Xhaka appears to be on the brink of swapping Arsenal for Roma and the midfielder decided it was a good idea to throw some shade on his soon-to-be ex-teammates in an attempt to make himself look better.
"Football is a team sport and you’re only as good as your team. Of course, it was a good year for me personally. I’ve always played and performed," Xhaka was quoted by The Sun as saying.
"But the place at the end of the season is, of course, really bitter and disappointing for us. There were certainly a number of issues that didn’t go optimally, but there is now no point in looking back."
We are lost for words, honestly. We are not surprised by the lack of class shown by Xhaka, it's not the first time he's done something like this, but we thought he'd at least have the wits to just leave quietly and in a dignified fashion. Apparently we overestimated his capacity to think straight.
In short, the sooner he's gone, the better. Xhaka epitomises much of what's wrong with the current Arsenal team. However he decides to dress it up, he's been part of the team which played no Champions League in 5 years. Given his willingness to throw others under the bus, we are sure he'll strike a nice rapport with Jose Mourinho.
