Kieran Tierney was not included in Scotland's team for their Euro 2020 opening match against the Czech Republic on Monday.
It's now been revealed that the Arsenal left-back suffered an injury during the week.
"Kieran picked up a little niggle through the week so not ready for this one," Steve Clarke said to BBC just before the game.
Tierney has battled with injuries throughout the season. However, it's a huge blow for the Scots given he's a key player for his nation.
The 24-year-old is expected to be fit for Scotland's crunch tie against England on Friday.
