William Saliba has been called up to France's squad for the upcoming Olympic Games.
The games will be held from July 21 to August 7. It means the defender wlll miss a large chunk of Arsenal's pre-season.
The Gunners will report back to the London Colney base on July 7 and will travel to Scotland for a training camp on July 12.
Between July 21 and August 7, the Gunners will play 3 friendlies, and the fourth will take place on August 8.
And the new Premier League season starts on August 13 with an away clash against Brentford.
Participation in the Olympics puts Saliba's future at Arsenal at risk. Speaking in May, Mikel Arteta said William will be assessed in the pre-season. But he will miss most of it due to his involvement in the Olympic Games.
Another Arsenal player called up for the Olympics is Gabriel Magalhaes.
It's worth mentioning that the Olympic Games are not organised by FIFA or UEFA. Unlike the World Cup, Copa America or the European Championship, Arsenal have no obligation to release players for this tournament.
