'He's never a liability': Arsenal fans debate what should be next for Calum Chambers

Calum Chambers' current contract with Arsenal will expire in 2022 - which leads to the question of what should be next for the 26-year-old.

He appeared only 10 times in the Premier League last season and can play at right-back as well as centre-back. But what does the future hold for him?

Here's what Arsenal fans on Reddit have to say:

lez566: "I always liked Chambers. I personally think he's better than Holding (who I think is decent enough). Chambers always seemed to give a 6/10 showing. He is never a liability which is a big win for our team. I'd happily have him as our first defensive sub."

AnotherReignCheck: "CB, nah.. RB, possibly. For example.. If we have 80m and planning on a 50m attacker and a 30m RB, then I would rather field Chambers and spend it all on an attacking player."

redactedactor: "I think the importance of the position is severely underrated. A good RB is one of a team's best creative outlets. I was a bit annoyed to hear we were willing to spend so much on Maddison because I think the player of theirs that'd help our team the most is Ricardo Perreira (they have Justin and Castagne so they could sell). Chambers can certainly do a job there but we aren't going to be competing for top 4 unless the team improves in all but a few positions."

Vetleab: "Unpopular opinion, but I really liked him on the right and would rather we have him as a starter and use our funds to strengthen the spine. I still think he's a better CB than Rob as well."

astrojeet: "He's a pretty good CB and can do a decent job at RB. Great backup all-around who can challenge for regular starts. He still has the potential to be a regular starter because he has a good football IQ and is disciplined."
